چکیده
Abstract Purpose Liver transplantation (LT) has gained ground as a treatment for cholangiocarcinoma. LT achieved an established role curative unresectable hilar cholangiocarcinoma (hCCA), and there are emerging data supporting its use in select patients with intrahepatic (iCCA). This review explores the current frontiers future directions of CCA. Recent Findings Results retrospective studies support randomized trials resectable hCCA. Select iCCA who have small tumors or favorable disease biology, demonstrated by response to neoadjuvant therapy, long-term survival after LT. Discoveries biology show FGFR other genetic abnormalities improved outcomes may benefit from targeted therapies. Summary The CCA increased utilization. Policies should be considered increase accessibility donor organs iCCA.

Liver Transplantation for Cholangiocarcinoma
The treatment of intraand extrahepatic cholangiocarcinomas remains a medical challenge. Due to the poor efficacy of conventional chemotherapy, surgical treatment modalities represent the only chance of attaining long-term survival and cure. The introduction of new procedures, in particular extended liver resections – which were enabled by increasing surgical expertise and the implementation of ...

INTRODUCTION Palliative treatment for nondisseminated unresectable peripheral cholangiocarcinoma (PCC) carries a 0% 5-year survival rate. The role of orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) in these patients is controversial because the survival rate is lower than with other indications for transplantation and the lack of available donor organs. The aim of this paper was to review the Spanish ex...

Hilar cholangiocarcinoma (HC) is a rare tumor which has to be distinguished by intrahepatic cholagiocarcinoma invading hepatic hilum because the former has better prognosis then the latter. Patients with HC are difficult to manage because many challenging issues remain in the treatment of this tumour regarding correct diagnosis and therapeutic strategy. HC is resectable in about 30% of cases, b...

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is emerging as a major health problem worldwide. NAFLD is a continuum of disease ranging from mild liver steatosis to severe steatohepatitis, which will ultimately lead to end-stage liver disease with high morbidity and mortality rates. This disorder is considered as a silent liver disease. The metabolic syndrome and its components are accounted as the ...
